iBlipped.com – Because There’s a Map For That
iBlipped.com has launched a new app that will help give users an accurate display of their service providers network. By taking users GPS and measuring their cell signal at regular intervals we can see just how good the coverage is.
The app works great, but doesn’t tell you its working great leaving you to wonder if you’re adding anything to the system. When you decide to upload the data, something you have to do manually, it emails a small text file. Setup was a real pain since you had to create folders on your memory card yourself. The app also doesn’t run in the background so you”ll need to dedicate yourself to running it while you drive.
Over all this is something that everyone should be running if they can because even if you just do it a few times you’ll be helping everyone out. Right now things have JUST started and so the data is very small, more of a reason to join up.
Check out a map of your network:

Hey thanks for the review. We are growing fast and have lots of work to do. We’re working on some more server side enhancements that will include mapping cdma basestations, which will help out those devices that do not have gps. Version 1.3 of blackberry will be out soon to help out the installation issues as well as other feature requests.
One thing to note that by hitting the “end” button will allow the program to run in the background. It’s a little confusing now and will be more clear with version 1.3.
Keep on blipping.
