BlackBerry Messenger 5 Official Release
BlackBerry Messenger 5 has finally come to the masses. (that’s you)
I’m sure most of you have seen our write up on BBM 5.0 Beta but this official release has even more goodies.
They’ve tweaked the graphics just a bit, but they went ahead and added something called ‘groups’ into the mix.
As you can see you add members to a group either via invites or barcodes. Once in the group you have your own chat room, picture sharing area (stays ‘posted’ for 28 days), a nice “list” section that allows for arguing discussing the merits of items etc. You can also assign list items to people, turning that ‘to-do’ list into an assignment sheet.
All group items end up showing a notification unique to the BBM icon to let you know where to look. Also you can put an icon for the group onto the home screen bypassing the messenger program itself. This really makes BlackBerry Messenger a viable enterprise tool and not just another IM program.
You can donwload either via AppWorld or OTA at www.blackberry.com/messenger
