BBM 5.0 is finally here! We have to say that it’s great to see this finally on our phones and if anything, gives you a taste of what RIM can do when it takes off the shirt and tie and slips into a polo and khakis. Granted it’s still not a t-shirt and flip-flops iPhone app, but it’s getting there.

IT JUST CAME TO MY ATTENTION IF YOU ARE RUNNING 83XX/81XX WITH OS LOWER THEN 4.5.0.131 IT WON’T WORK. HAVEN’T HAD ANY OTHER DEVICES TESTED LIKE 88XX
- OTA for 95XX/4.7
- OTA for Tour/4.7.1
THE 4.7.1 OTA WILL WORK ON 8900/9000 OS 5.0

So, the new BBM not workin on devices with OS lower than 4.5.0.140 (dont know what bout *.153), but on OS 4.5.0.161 workin perfect. This for devices 81xx, 83xx, 88xx (im using 8800).

Any idea why this may not be working from the 8110 browser. Im running OS v4.5.0.158 and get a page with code on it after hitting up the OTA link…
tried refreshing it and still nada…
any ideas?

I’m using bb bold os 4.6.0.126. I succed downloading the link above, reboot my bb but there is no icon to the new bbm. I check the apps list, there it is there the BBM 5. Pls help thanks

Sorry, but on other’s OS should works. I read some post’s on CB and people say that works also on *.81 or *.110 (4.5), but on my device working only with OS *.161
its just strange, dont know why only on *.161 and for others people on older OS.

I tried downloading v4.7.1 for my 8900 multiple times and evrytime i try it just says “download failed” the details being “907 invalid cod” please help!

Mine is doing the same! Also, after I tried downloading it and it failed my BBM has mysteriously disappeared. I will be soooo annoyed if I have lost all of my contacts..any help?

What OS are you using? 4.7.1 works for the 8900 if you’re on OS 5.0, but if you’re still on 4.6 then try the 4.6 DL…

Alright, so it works for me.
On the 1st attempt, it told me Error 907. Anyway, after a battery pull (I really just pressed ALT+Shift+Del) it worked on a second attempt.
I’m using an 8800 with OS 4.5.0.81 with T-Mobile if it matters.

Hey, I downloaded BBM 5.o on my bold and after the device rebooted, my bbm icon disappeared. I still see it in the application list. how do i get my icon back?

There are different adaptations to BBM5 for each BB model. If you can’t find the icon, try looking on your browser for a BBM5 version that goes with your BB Model.
My question is now that I’ve gotten BBM5 to work I’ve lost the Browser. Any ideas how to get it back?

I have the blackberry curve 8900. I had to download the app like 4 times before it worked. I do not like that it takes too long (sometimes an hour) for a message to get to the other person. I like the different smileys BUT it will be MUCH better if they looked as good and clear like the orginal BBM smileys. I like that I can put a picture and see my friends picture as well. I am going to download my orginal BBM because I don’t like the fact that my messages are not delivered as fast as I want them to be.

hey so i’ve got quite the dilemma, my friend attempted to install bbm 5 on a phone lower than os 4.5.0.131 (129 i think she said).
anyway, I’ve told her to go to desktop manager, uninstall bbm and then re-install the old one … she says that she can’t.
any advice on how to proceed?

works great so far, for my Tour. my only question is, with the new 5.0 bbm, why is there only a couple of avatars showing up next to my contacts? does it have to be put manually? if so, how? thanks in advanced!

For those who may not know. BBM 5.0 will pull avatars from other BBM 5.0 users if they’ve set one…but you can also link them to a contact and if that contact has a picture it will use that as the avatar.

Hey I’ve tryed to download bbm 5.0 on my phone like 5 times it says I did it but the icon never pops up. I tryed to press show all and it still dosent pop up. Now I have no bbm at all.

I have the 8320, and I tried to downlaod the 83XX/81XX/4.5 on my bb about 12 times, it gets about 3/4 of the way down then stops and says downloading failed…shows an error message that reads… “907 Invalid COD Unable to import ZIP file”
please help!

Hey there.. I have just downloaded the BBM5 for my jave 8900. Initially all my bbm gone, then i uninstalled the bbm application from my application list.. then i re-downloaded from the link given using the ota v4.6.1… after that it works!!!!!!!!
just wanna say thanks a bunch for the link! SO far so good with the bbm.. it doesnt delay for my msgs to reach my friend..

Just scanned ur barcode and bam! it works!
I had the older version now this new version is definately awesome! But I still think going back to the previous version would be better. This is because, now when a contact sends me a voice recording or an image, I HAVE to download it/ save it. Earlier i just needed to select preview and thats it… which I think is better than downloading it each and everytime.
